Meet the Staff

Roger Zuidema

Sailing School Director

Roger is a US Sailing Level 1 Trained Sailing Instructor and has been a teacher in West Michigan for over 30 years. A graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Roger’s educational background includes Health, Recreation, Physical Education, Computers, Marketing, and Social Media. Roger’s extensive resume includes his current position as a middle school teacher in Hudsonville Public Schools where he spent 8 years also serving as the School District’s Pool Director and Manager of their Community Swimming Programs. 

Roger has also coached several sports at the middle school and high school level.  In addition to being a teacher, coach, and swimming program administrator, Roger has spent several years promoting maritime fun, education, and preservation through his website “Muskegon Lake Effect Boating” (http://lakeeffectboating.weebly.com). Roger’s abundant experience with aquatic education and sports administration – as well as his social media expertise and enthusiasm for the Muskegon boating community – are a tremendous asset to the MYC Sailing School.
